Passport, Meet Personality

The trip itself was incredible.

Not because it was effortless, but because all of that preparation created freedom. The confidence of knowing where it was safe to eat. The relief of removing the guesswork. The ability to actually enjoy the experience instead of constantly worrying about the next meal.

That’s when the idea for Gluten Free Getaways was born.

Because if this information was so valuable personally, surely it could help someone else too.

What started as planning one safe trip to Japan became a bigger realisation: gluten free travellers around the world are doing the same exhausting research from scratch, every single time they travel.

Gluten Free Getaways was created to change that.

To turn hours of uncertainty into confidence.
To replace anxiety with excitement.
To help gluten free travellers experience the world without compromise.

Because no one should have to choose between their health and their sense of adventure.”

“Gluten Free Getaways began with a simple trip to Japan.

What was meant to be an exciting adventure with a friend quickly became something much more complicated.

For most travellers, planning a trip means choosing where to stay, what to see, and where to eat. But for someone living with celiac disease, the process looked very different. Before even stepping on the plane, weeks were spent researching safe restaurants, understanding Japanese ingredients, learning what foods to avoid, figuring out how to communicate dietary requirements in another language, and trying to prepare for every “what if.”

What should have felt exciting often felt overwhelming.

There was a constant awareness that one wrong meal could mean getting sick, disrupting the trip, and turning what should be an unforgettable experience into a stressful one.

So the planning became obsessive; spreadsheets, saved locations, restaurant research, backup plans, translation tools, forums, travel routes, contingency options.

And then something unexpected happened.
